Our Story at Puy Robin
Puy Robin is much more than a 500-year-old farmhouse to us. It is a place that has captured our hearts and become part of our lives. A home carrying with it the character, craftsmanship, and stories of generations past. This is not simply an old farmhouse, it is a living piece of history.
When we first came to Puy Robin, we were drawn to its history, its traditional character and, perhaps most of all, its wonderful sense of peace. There is something special about living in a place that has been here for centuries. The old stone, the original features and the architecture all tell a story of the people who lived and worked here before us.
We feel very fortunate to be its custodians.
Our aim has never been to turn Puy Robin into something it is not. Instead, we want to preserve what makes it special. We have tried to respect its history and retain its original character while making the house comfortable and welcoming for modern life. For us, that balance between the old and the new is an important part of what makes Puy Robin unique.
We are equally passionate about the land that surrounds the house. The gardens, fields and countryside are not simply a backdrop to Puy Robin, they are an essential part of its character. Looking out across the rolling Gatine hills, watching the seasons change and discovering the wildlife around us constantly reminds us how lucky we are to live here. We love the simple things that Puy Robin makes possible. Sitting outside with a cup of tea, walking around the gardens, reading a book in the sunshine, or simply watching the birds and wildlife. Sometimes there is nothing better than doing absolutely nothing and enjoying the view.
Puy Robin is also part of something much older than the farmhouse itself. We are fortunate to be situated alongside the St Jacques de Compostelle, the historic pilgrim route that has brought travellers through this landscape for centuries. There is something rather wonderful about knowing that people have been passing through these hills for hundreds of years, each travelling with their own story.
For us, Puy Robin is about history, nature, simplicity and connection. It is about looking after an old home and the land around it. We don't see ourselves as owning Puy Robin so much as looking after it for a while. Puy Robin has been here for more than 500 years. We are simply the latest chapter in its story.
